New Delhi: Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala on Monday slammed the Narendra Modi-led government at the Centre over the heavy security deployment in Central Delhi in view of the grand old party's former president Rahul Gandhi's appearance before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with the National Heral case, and termed it as "undeclared emergency”.

The Congress MP categorically said that the party won't bow down and will continue its fight against the government, which he accused of crushing democracy and the Constitution of India.

"In Central Delhi, the Modi government has imposed an undeclared emergency as heavy security arrangements have been put in place. Modi ji is afraid of the 'Satyagraha' of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi," Surjewala said, while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters here.

Attacking the ruling BJP and ED, the Congress national spokesperson said, "The Modi government and its 'Election Management Department ' which is the ED, have challenged the truth. Neither truth can be suppressed nor cowed down. We will fight and win.”

"Today, a new revolution will begin against the government which is crushing the democracy and Constitution of India," he said.

Surjewala further said, "Modi ji has been working hard since last eight years to cow down the Congress. But, we will not bow down.

"The former Congress president was summoned by the ED to appear before it on June 13 in National Herald case.

The grand old party has maintained that there is no money laundering involved in the case, and called the summon a politically motivated move. (UNI)
