Jammu: In a major catch, Jammu and Kashmir Police have busted a narco terror module by arresting two smugglers with cocaine worth Rs 300 crores in Ramban district.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh, said on Sunday last night at about 10:35 pm, a police team led by Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, Mohita Sharma, intercepted one luxurious vehicle at Railway Chowk at Banihal with a registration number of Haryana.

"The vehicle was coming from Kashmir towards Jammu, and during checking, about 30 kg of cocaine, having an approximate value of Rs 300 crores in the international black market, was recovered," said the top cop.

He said two people were taken into custody, and an investigation started after a case was registered under relevant sections.

"The operation was developed on intelligence generated by SSP Ramban and her team, who have been continuously waging war against drug smugglers and peddlers," said Singh, adding that a large number of notorious peddlers and smugglers have already been booked by the Ramban police.

The ADGP revealed that a total of 104 cases have been registered in 2022 and 36 in 2023 till date in Ramban district, in which 2500 kg of poppy straw, 30 kg of cocaine, 10 kg of charas, 200 grams of heroin, and 200 tablets were recovered, while 158 accused have been arrested and three detained under.
