Bhubaneswar: Senior BJD leader and former MP Prasanna Acharya was seriously injured when his car met with an accident near Beladihi in Rairakhol late on Thursday night.
Acharya, also a former Odisha Finance Minister, was returning to Bargarh, his native place, from Bhubaneswar when the mishap took place.

Sources said his vehicle had a head-on collision with an oxygen-laden tanker, injuring the senior BJD leader critically. However, his driver and PSO sustained minor injuries in the accident.

Acharya was immediately shifted to the ICU of a private hospital in Sambalpur. His condition is stated to be stable, hospital sources said.
The police have detained the driver of the tanker and are interrogating him. (UNI)
