Seven killed in wall collapse incidents in Sitapur

At least seven people lost their lives including four members of the same family in different incidents of wall collapse due to incessant rain in the district on Wednesday.

Sitapur:  At least seven people lost their lives including four members of the same family in different incidents of wall collapse due to incessant rain in the district on Wednesday.

According to District Magistrate Vishal Bhardwaj, a total of seven people died due to wall collapse at three places in the district.

He said 3 people have been injured in the incident. One injured has been discharged from the hospital after first aid. Two are undergoing treatment.

In Manpur, four members of the same family died. Police and administrative officials have reached the spot after getting the information.

The wall of the kutcha house of Harish, resident of Majra Laxmanpur of Kalyanpur, village panchayat of block Kasmanda, collapsed at around 2:45 pm. Due to the fall of the wall, the ceiling of the room also collapsed.

Harish's mother Lalli, her two sons, eight-year-old Shailendra and 12-year-old Shiva, and her sister's daughter Mehek, who were sleeping near the wall, were buried under the debries.

Two people were also injured there. The injured Suman (25) and Shivani (10) have been admitted to the hospital for treatment.

At the same time, after getting information about the matter, besides Tehsildar Sidhauli RP Singh, the police of Manpur and Khairabad police stations also reached the spot.

In another incident , a couple died after being buried under the wall in village Bilauli Nankari of Sadarpur area on early Wednesday morning. Police said Ram Lotan and his wife Anita were sleeping when the wall of their house collapsed and both were buried under it. By the time the villagers got them out, both were dead.

Senior citizen Krishna Maurya, a resident of village Mahariya in Sadarpur area, also died due to being buried under a wall. Krishna was sleeping when the wall collapsed.

DM Vishal Bhardwaj said financial assistance to the families of the deceased and injured is being provided as per rules.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed his grief over the incidents and has asked the district authorities to procide all assistance to the affected families.(UNI)
