Telangana Assembly Poll: Congress appoints actress Vijayashanti as convenor of campaign committee

New Delhi: The Congress party has appointed former Lok Sabha member and Veteran actress Vijayashanti, who had recently quit the BJP, as the Chief Coordinator and Convenor of the campaign committee for the Telangana Assembly poll.
Congress General Secretary K C Venugopal said on Saturday that AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge has appointed 15 other senior leaders as members in the coordination committee headed by Vijayashanti.
Actress Vijayashanti, who joined the BJP in 2020, returned to the Congress on Friday in the presence of Kharge amid the assembly election campaign.
She served as the Member of Parliament in the 15th Lok Sabha, representing the Medak constituency from Telangana Rashtra Samithi, now Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS).
