Coimbatore: A horrific road accident occurred on Siruvani Road in Coimbatore on Friday, killing four young men and seriously injuring one. The accident occurred when the car of friends celebrating a birthday collided with a tamarind tree.

According to information, Harish, Prakash, and Saba from Trichy, all three worked at a private car wash company in the Telugupalayam area near Perur in Coimbatore. They were accompanied by Prabhakaran from Thanjavur and Agathiyan from Ariyalur, who are third-year horticulture students at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University in Coimbatore.

Before the accident, the friends were celebrating Harish's birthday and drinking alcohol. They took a Tata Ultra car and set off to visit a waterfall. Prakash was driving the car, while all five were drunk.

Car Hits Tree

While crossing the Chettipalayam Junction between Perur and Pachapalayam, the car lost control at high speed and hit a roadside tamarind tree. Despite the car's airbags deploying, Harish, Prakash, and Agathiyan died on the spot. Prabhakaran and Saba were rushed to a government hospital in critical condition, but Saba succumbed to his injuries there. Prabhakaran is still battling for his life in the intensive care unit.

Case of Alcohol and Negligence

According to people at the scene, the friends were all drunk. The car owner told police that his employees used the car without permission and took it for a long drive. The car was completely damaged after the accident.
