Union Min Shivraj Singh Chouhan patrons meeting of cotton growing states Agri Ministers in Coimbatore

The main agenda of this meeting is to increase cotton cultivation in the country and protect the welfare of cotton farmers.

Coimbatore: Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan heads the consultative meeting of Agricultural Ministers and officials of all the cotton growing states at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University here in Coimbatore.

Main Agenda

The main agenda of this meeting is to increase cotton cultivation in the country and protect the welfare of cotton farmers.

A large number of farmers are participating in the meeting and express their views and opinions regarding the agenda.

Union Minister Welcomed

Shivraj Singh Chouhan arrived at Coimbatore airport on Thursday. At the airport the Union Minister was received by the BJP National Council Member, Ex-IPS Annamalai; BJP Kisan Morcha State President GK Nagaraj and BJP District President J Rameshkumar. Besides Senior Officers of the Central and state agricultural departments were also present there.

Senior North India BJP leader from Tamil Nadu Harish Patel, Zila Parishad Member of Pali in Rajasthan, felicitated the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

BJP District President Ramesh Kumar, State General Secretary Murganand, Kisan Morcha State President Nagaraj and others were also present.

Cotton Cultivation

Successful cotton cultivation requires a number of factors like specific climate, soil, and management practices. Main things include a warm and sunny climate with a long growing season, well-drained and fertile soil, adequate water supply, and proper combination of nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium.
