Released on November 6, the date sheet schedules both examinations to commence on February 16, 2027. The examinations will begin at 10:30 am, with individual paper durations varying according to the subject.
The early announcement gives students approximately 101 days to organise their revision schedules, complete pending portions of the syllabus, practise sample papers and strengthen their performance in subjects requiring additional attention.
According to the CBSE notification, more than 26.5 lakh students have registered for the Class 10 examinations, while over 19.8 lakh candidates are expected to appear for Class 12. The combined candidate strength exceeds 46 lakh, underlining the scale of one of India's largest school-level public examination exercises. Students must refer to the official date sheet for the exact subject code, examination date and duration applicable to their registered subjects.
For Class 12 students, the board examination programme will begin on February 16 with Physics, a crucial paper for candidates pursuing the Science stream.
The schedule covers a broad range of subjects across Science, Commerce and Humanities, alongside vocational and specialised academic disciplines.
Accountancy, an important paper for Commerce students, is scheduled for February 23, while Geography will be conducted on February 25. Chemistry is scheduled for February 27, followed by Psychology on March 2.

The timetable also includes Physical Education, Entrepreneurship, Biotechnology, Mass Media Studies, Design Thinking and Innovation, Home Science, Environmental and other specialised subject combinations where applicable. Students should check the official PDF for the complete list rather than relying solely on the major-subject schedule.
The 2027 CBSE board examinations will involve an exceptionally large candidate base, with over 26.5 lakh Class 10 students and more than 19.8 lakh Class 12 students registered for the examinations.
The board has indicated that the timetable was prepared after examining the subject combinations submitted by schools through the List of Candidates (LOC) process. This data-driven approach is intended to ensure that students opting for multiple subjects do not face examination clashes.
According to the CBSE notification, more than 40,000 subject combinations were considered while finalising the examination schedule. The board has also taken into account the tentative schedules of major entrance examinations for Class 12 students, seeking to enable candidates to manage their board examination preparation alongside competitive examination commitments.
Adequate gaps have been incorporated between commonly selected subjects, while the examination-centre candidate load and the availability of teachers for evaluation have also been considered.
The early publication of the date sheet is expected to provide substantial academic and logistical benefits to students, parents, schools and examination centres. For students, the advance notice creates an opportunity to develop a structured revision strategy, allocate preparation time according to subject difficulty and undertake systematic practice of previous years' question papers and sample papers.
Parents and teachers can plan their schedules around the examination and evaluation calendar, while schools can organise revision programmes, pre-board assessments and academic support activities more efficiently.
The board has also highlighted that the timetable is designed to minimise prolonged teacher absence from schools during the evaluation process, thereby reducing disruption to regular academic activities.
For Class 12 students, the consideration of major entrance examination schedules is particularly significant, as many candidates will simultaneously be preparing for university admissions and competitive examinations.
Alongside the theory examination timetable, practical examinations, project assessments and internal assessments form an important component of the CBSE evaluation framework. As per the schedule provided for the 2026-27 academic session, practical examinations and internal assessments for schools in India and abroad are scheduled between January 1 and February 13, 2027.
For winter-bound schools, the practical examinations and internal assessment process is scheduled to be conducted earlier, from November 9 to December 19, 2026. Students should coordinate with their respective schools for subject-specific practical examination dates, project submission deadlines, laboratory assessments and internal evaluation requirements.
The 2027 examination cycle also comes amid the implementation of CBSE's two-board-examination framework for Class 10. Under the revised system, the first examination phase is compulsory for students, while the second phase provides an opportunity to improve performance in eligible subjects, subject to the board's prescribed rules.
This change makes it particularly important for Class 10 candidates to understand the examination guidelines, eligibility conditions and applicable subject limits rather than relying on informal information circulating online. Class 12 students will follow the examination schedule notified for their respective subjects.
Students can access the official CBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board examination date sheet through the board's website, cbse.gov.in. Candidates should download the original PDF and verify their subject names, subject codes, examination dates and paper duration. This is particularly important for students appearing in regional languages, vocational subjects and specialised electives, where similar subject names may have different codes.
The CBSE has also instructed students to follow the examination guidelines issued separately and carefully read the instructions printed on their admit cards. The use of communication devices inside examination centres is prohibited. With the timetable now available, students have a defined preparation window before the February 16 commencement. The immediate priority is to map the subject-wise examination dates against the remaining syllabus, practical assessments and revision targets, ensuring that the final months before the board examinations are used effectively.
