Google Gemini Avatar rolls out to more users (Img: Internet)
New Delhi: Google has rolled out its Gemini Avatar feature to a wider group of paid subscribers, introducing a powerful AI tool that allows users to create digital versions of themselves capable of generating personalised videos.
The feature is part of Google’s Gemini ecosystem and is powered by the Gemini Omni model, which enables realistic voice and facial replication for content creation.

Gemini Avatar is an AI-powered tool that creates a virtual replica of a user by scanning their face and recording their voice. Once set up, the avatar can be used to generate videos, presentations, and other digital content that closely resembles the user’s appearance and speech style.
The avatar is linked directly to the user’s Google account and integrates across Gemini features.
To create an avatar, users must go through a two-step process:
First, they scan their face using their smartphone camera by holding it at eye level and following on-screen instructions. The system captures multiple angles to map facial features accurately.
Next, users train the voice model by reading out phrases and numbers provided by the system. This helps the AI understand tone, accent, pitch, and speaking rhythm. Once both steps are completed, the AI generates a personalised digital avatar ready for use.
Google recommends following specific instructions for better accuracy during setup. Users are advised to:
Glasses are allowed and can be included in the model.

Given concerns about AI misuse and deepfakes, Google has introduced strict safeguards. Users must be at least 18 years old to create an avatar and must complete the setup themselves, preventing impersonation.
Additionally, all AI-generated videos include a hidden SynthID watermark, ensuring traceability and helping identify AI-generated content.
The Gemini Avatar feature is currently being rolled out to paid Gemini subscribers, with no official timeline announced for free users.
As AI technology continues to evolve, Google’s Gemini Avatar represents a major step toward more personalised and realistic AI-generated content while maintaining safety controls.
