Indian AI techie quits Meta Superintelligence Lab after just 5 months despite 8.8 crore salary

New Delhi: Many senior engineers working in Meta Superintelligence Lab receive the highest salaries. This lab was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with the aim of developing cutting-edge AI for the future.

Recently the recruitment process of this lab has been in the headlines, and engineers from OpenAI, Google and Apple have been included in this. Mark Zuckerberg had included these talented engineers by giving them a high salary, but now news of resignation from Meta Superintelligence Lab is here.

Rishabh Agarwal, who is a leading AI scientist, has decided to resign from this lab. He has left a job worth about $ 1 million; it means about Rs 8.8 crore.

While giving the reason for his resignation Rishabh Agarwal said that he wants to embrace new and unknown risks. He shares this news on social media saying that after working in Meta, Google Brain and DeepMind, he is now looking for a new challenge.

Rishabh wrote on social media platform X, "This is my last week at @AIatMeta. Leaving the Superintelligence Lab was a difficult decision for me. After working for a total of 7.5 years at Google Brain, DeepMind and Meta, I feel it is time to take new risks."

Rishabh Agrawal is not the only one who has left the Meta Superintelligence Lab. According to reports, three researchers have resigned from this dream project so far, two of whom have already returned to OpenAI. Before Rishabh, Avi Verma and Ethan Knight have also parted ways with Meta.

About Rishabh Agrawal?

Rishabh Agrawal has worked in many prestigious institutions before joining the Meta Superintelligence Lab. After completing his studies from IIT Bombay, he earned a PhD degree from Mila - Quebec AI Institute. At the beginning of his career, he did internships at Saavn, Tower Research Capital and Waymo. In 2018 he started working as a Senior Research Scientist at Google Brain, later transferring to Google DeepMind. In April 2025, he joined Meta.
