New Delhi: Instagram users are in for a treat! Meta has started testing a new 'Auto Scroll' feature on Instagram, which was first shared by a user on Meta's other app, Threads.

What Is Instagram Auto Scroll Feature?

The Auto Scroll feature lets users watch Reels or posts one after another without manually scrolling. This makes the experience more convenient and hands-free. This is especially helpful for users who spend a lot of time watching Reels or video content.

How Does It Work?

Users can turn the Auto Scroll feature on or off in Instagram's settings. If turned on, Instagram will automatically play the next Reel after the current one finishes. No tapping or swiping is needed.

Why Do Users Like This Feature?

In today's fast-paced digital world, people want to consume content quickly and avoid repeated screen touches.
Auto Scroll makes this process smoother and more enjoyable.

This feature is especially useful for:

  • Watching videos while on the go
  • Avoiding touching the screen
  • Spending a lot of time on Reels

When a user shared about this feature on Threads, other users were excited and noticed the new Auto Scroll option in their Instagram apps. As soon as they turned it on, the Reels began playing automatically.

Instagram And Meta's History

This move is part of Meta's strategy to make Reels more engaging. Reels have already become a popular video format, competing with TikTok. With features like Auto Scroll, users are likely to stay on the app longer.

When will the feature be available to everyone?

The feature is currently in testing and is only available to a limited number of users. Meta has stated that after successful testing, it will be rolled out to a larger audience. In the coming days, Instagram users all around the world, including in India, should start getting this feature.

Earlier Update

Earlier Meta has said in its new update that it will verify the age of users through AI technology. Till now Instagram only relied on the date of birth entered by the user while creating the account. But now if a user shows that he is 18 years of age or older, AI will check whether this claim is true or not based on his activities, profile details and other signs. If the platform suspects that a teenager has deliberately entered his age wrong, he will have to upload an identity card (ID) to prove his age, or follow Meta's other verification options.
