New Delhi: Tech giant Apple has launched its new budget-friendly laptop, the MacBook Neo, in the Indian market. The company claims it is the most affordable MacBook ever, specifically designed for students and everyday users. The new MacBook Neo features several key features, including powerful performance, long battery life, and a premium design.

Powerful A18 Pro Chipset

The company has used the A18 Pro chipset in the MacBook Neo, which is also found in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Apple claims this chipset can deliver up to 50 percent faster performance in general tasks compared to many Windows laptops equipped with Intel Core Ultra 5 processors. It is also reported to be up to three times faster in some AI-based tasks.

Display and Design

This new laptop features a 13-inch Liquid Retina IPS display with a pixel density of 219ppi. The laptop also features Apple's Magic Keyboard and a multi-touch trackpad. It also features Touch ID for biometric security. The MacBook Neo is available in four attractive colors - Blush, Citrus, Indigo, and Silver - offering stylish options to users.

Storage and Performance

The MacBook Neo comes with 8GB of RAM and two storage options - 256GB and 512GB SSD. However, the RAM is not expandable. The laptop runs on Apple's latest macOS Tahoe operating system. It also features a 1080p FaceTime HD webcam, voice isolation, and a wide-spectrum microphone. For a better audio experience, the dual speaker setup supports Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio.

Connectivity and Battery

The MacBook Neo supports Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. It has two USB Type-C ports (one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0) that also support charging. It also has a headphone jack.

The laptop is powered by a 36.5Wh battery that can be charged with a 20W USB-C adapter. According to Apple, the device can provide up to 11 hours of web browsing and 16 hours of video streaming on a single charge.

Pricing and Availability

The MacBook Neo is priced at ₹69,900 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant, while the 512GB storage variant will be available for ₹79,900. The company is also offering an education discount of up to ₹10,000 for students. Pre-bookings have begun, and sales will begin on March 11th at Apple's website and authorized retail stores.

Due to its low price, the MacBook Neo is now expected to compete with Chromebooks and Windows laptops priced between ₹60,000 and ₹70,000.
