The company has redesigned the handset compared to its predecessor, the Redmi Note 15. The device has a large rectangular plastic body and a flat back; the rear panel features a square camera module that comes with an additional element to house the camera and the LED flashlight.
The company has introduced the device in three colour options: Arctic Blue, Starlight Purple, and Dark Night.
The device features a 6.9-inch FHD Plus OLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and peak brightness of 1,800 nits. The company claims that the panel covers the DCI P3 wide colour gamut.
The newly launched smartphone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 chipset developed on a 4nm process. The chipset is paired with LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.
The key feature of the device is its battery; the device is packed with a massive 8,000mAh battery supported by 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging. The company claims that at least 80 per cent of battery health remains after 1,600 charge-discharge cycles.
In terms of optics, the rear panel features a 50MP primary sensor, whereas the front panel features an 8MP camera for selfies and video calling.
The device runs on Android 16 based on HyperOS 3. The company promises 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches.
The Redmi Note 17 is launched at a starting price of Rs 27,999, offering 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, whereas the higher storage variant offering 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 30,999.
The device will go live on sale in India on 12 August through e-commerce platform Amazon, Xiaomi India’s official website, and authorised retail partners across the country.
