New Delhi: As online scams continue to surge across India and other parts of the world, WhatsApp is strengthening its in-app security measures with new tools designed to detect fraud attempts and make it more difficult for scammers to target users.

WhatsApp is trying to keep people from online scams. These scams are getting smarter. Happening more often. WhatsApp has added some new security features to help people avoid scams and keep their accounts safe.

The people who try to scam others often pretend to be someone they're not like a bank person or a delivery guy. They try to trick people into giving them information like passwords or money details. To help with this WhatsApp has added five security features.

Silence Unknown Calls to Avoid Scam Pressure

One of these features is called "Silence Callers". When you turn this on calls from numbers you do not know will not ring on your phone. You will still see them in your notifications and call list. They will not bother you. This should help people avoid scams where someone calls and tries to get them to do something quickly.

Context Cards Add Extra Verification Details

WhatsApp is also adding something called context cards. These cards will show up when someone you do not know sends you a message. They will give you information about the person like if you have them in your contacts or if they are from another country. This will help you decide if you should trust the message or not.

WhatsApp wants to stop people from stealing accounts

Now when you try to share your screen with someone you do not know during a video call WhatsApp will warn you. This is because scammers might try to look at information, on your screen.

WhatsApp is also making it harder for people to get into your account without your permission. If someone tries to link your WhatsApp account to another device you will get a warning. This way you can stop them from getting into your account.

WhatsApp also wants people to use two-step verification. This means you need to enter a six-digit code to get into your account. This makes it much harder for scammers to get into your account. WhatsApp is always trying to make its app safer for people to use.
