New Delhi: The world's popular messaging app WhatsApp is now working on a new premium plan, “WhatsApp Plus." This will be a paid subscription, but the relief for common users is that the basic features of the app will remain free as before. There will be no change in free features.

Even after the arrival of this new plan, facilities like sending messages, making calls, and end-to-end encryption will remain free. That means the basic experience of WhatsApp will not change at all. This plan is only for those who want additional features.

What will be special in WhatsApp Plus?

Users will get many extra features through WhatsApp Plus. In this, special stickers, custom themes, and the option to change the icon of the app will be available. With this, users will be able to completely personalize their app.

Apart from this, there will be a facility to pin more chats so that important conversations will always be on top. There will also be an option to set different ringtones and notifications for different contacts. Currently, this feature is being tested for limited users, especially on the Android platform. Gradually it can be rolled out for all users.

How will the subscription work?

WhatsApp Plus will be a monthly subscription. Users will be able to activate it by going to the app's settings. Once activated, it will automatically renew every month unless the user turns it off.

How much could the price be?

Its official price has not been revealed yet, but according to initial reports, its price in Europe could be around €2.49 per month. Its price in India is likely to be around Rs 200–250.

WhatsApp Plus can be used only through the official app. If a user uses an unofficial or modded version, his account may also be closed. Overall, WhatsApp Plus can be a great option for those users who want to make their chatting experience more personal and special, while for ordinary users, the app will remain free as before.
