Supreme Court on Thursday turned down a petition which sought the Election Commission of India to be directed to hold 2019 Lok Sabha elections as well as State Assembly polls using the ballot system instead of Electronic Voting Machines.
Pink colour which largely represents women in certain categories has become a subject of controversy in the run-up to Telangana elections as the Election commission decided to continue to use the colour for ballot papers on EVMs in the December 7 Assembly polls.
“Ballot paper will strengthen the democracy and the trust of people. We also hope that the people, who faced the problem, will get to vote again,” Akhilesh Yadav said.
