The greatest impact of Cyclone Montha will be felt in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Between October 29th and 31st, several districts of Purvanchal and Bundelkhand, bordering Bihar, are expected to experience thunderstorms and rain. Heavy rain is forecast for Varanasi and other areas on October 30th.
An orange warning has been issued for eight districts on October 27th and a red warning for five districts on October 28th. The state government has also begun advance preparations to deal with any emergency.
A low pressure area has formed in the southeast Bay of Bengal region on Friday. It will gradually move west-northwestward and become more organized, forming a depression over the southeast and central Bay of Bengal by Saturday.
