The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced four candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha biennial elections from Maharashtra.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday released its list of candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha Biennial Elections
The announcement comes ahead of polling for five Rajya Sabha seats in West Bengal scheduled on 16 March. Given its commanding strength in the state Assembly, TMC is comfortably placed to secure four of the five seats.
Congress party showed its dominance in Telangana in the municipal election results, which are still pouring in. On 11th February, the state witnessed polls for 116 municipalities and seven corporations.
With the State Assembly elections in Kerala fast approaching, the new BJP chief, Nitin Nabin, undertook a two-day visit to the state to formally launch the party campaign. Significantly, the party chief offered prayers to Adi Shankaracharya.
Senior BJP corporator Ritu Tawde has been elected as Mumbai’s new BMC Mayor, marking the first time a BJP candidate holds this post in 40 years. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Sanjay Ghadi will serve as Deputy Mayor.
According to the schedule, nominations for the post will be accepted on January 19 between 2 pm and 4 pm. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from 4 pm to 5 pm, followed by the withdrawal window from 5 pm to 6 pm the same day. The National Election Officer will issue an official statement at 6:30 pm.
The infighting within the Mahayuti alliance is clearly visible. Meanwhile, the BJP has now approached the Election Commission against its alliance partner, the NCP.
The Akhilesh Yadav said the manner in which the voter list is being prepared has raised serious questions about the fairness and transparency of the entire exercise.
