President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday hailed the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act as “historic” in his address to joint sitting of both houses of Parliament, prompting protests by some opposition members.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday termed as “historic” the cut in corporate tax rates and asserted that economic announcements made in the last few weeks show that his government is leaving no stone unturned to make India a better place to do business.
The French police warned residents living in the vicinity of the Notre Dame cathedral of a lead contamination arising from the blaze which ravaged the historic structure on April 15.
