Stating that “Justice has prevailed”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday called for a united effort to build a nation where the focus is on women’s empowerment while ensuring dignity and safety for them.
Delhi High Court on Wednesday reserved its order on a petition filed by one of the Nirbhaya convicts — Mukesh Singh — challenging the trial court’s order dismissing his plea seeking quashing of death penalty claiming that he was not in the city when the crime was committed.
The Supreme Court will hear on March 5, a petition, filed by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, seeking directions to execute the death row convicts in the Nirbhaya gangrape and murder case separately.
Asha Devi, the mother of the 2012 Delhi gang-rape victim, on Tuesday said that her struggle to get justice will end on March 3 when the convicts will be hanged as per the order by a Delhi court.

Lawyer of the Nirbhaya convicts, AP Singh, on Friday filed an application before a Delhi court seeking “urgent directions” to Tihar Jail authorities to provide documents needed to file curative and mercy petitions for three of the convicts.
