Singhu, Ghazipur and several other borders of the national capital with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have continued to remain closed for traffic movement due to ongoing farmers’ agitation against the Central farm laws.
The Union Home Affairs Ministry on Monday extended temporarily suspension of internet services till February 2 at Delhi’s — Singhu, Ghazipur, and Tikri borders to maintain law and order amid the farmers’ protest against the newly-enacted farm laws.
As the ongoing farmers’ agitation at Burari, Singhu and Tikri borders entered day 12, the Delhi Traffic Police on Monday issued an advisory for commuters as multiple borders between Delhi and neighbouring states remained closed for traffic.
In view of the ongoing farmers’ agitation in the national capital, the Delhi Traffic Police on Tuesday appealed to citizens to take alternative routes as the Singhu (Delhi-Haryana) and the Tikri Borders remained closed due to the protests.
Thousands of farmers gathered at the Singhu border held a meeting on Saturday morning amid heavy security presence and decided to continue demonstrating there even after being offered a site in north Delhi to hold their protest.
