Kolkata: C. V. Ananda Bose, the Governor of West Bengal, has stepped down from his post after serving for more than three years. According to officials, Bose submitted his resignation earlier on Thursday in New Delhi.
Following his resignation, R. N. Ravi has been appointed as the new Governor of the state.
Sources from Raj Bhavan, Kolkata confirmed that C. V. Ananda Bose's resignation letter has been forwarded to the President of India. His Officer on Special Duty also confirmed the development, stating that the formal communication had been sent.

Following his resignation, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said she was “shocked and deeply concerned” over the sudden resignation of Governor C. V. Ananda Bose and alleged that he may have been subjected to pressure from the Union government ahead of the upcoming state Assembly elections.
In a post on platform X, Banerjee said the reasons behind Bose’s resignation were not known to her. However, she added that given the prevailing circumstances, she would not be surprised if the Governor had been “subjected to some pressure” from Union Home Minister Amit Shah to serve certain political interests on the eve of the elections.

Bose took charge as Governor of West Bengal in 2022 and served in the role for approximately three-and-a-half years. During his tenure, he was actively involved in various administrative and public outreach initiatives.
His term saw several interactions with state authorities and civil society groups as part of efforts to strengthen communication between the Government of West Bengal and the public.
