
Agra-Lucknow Expressway Accident
Lucknow: A major road accident on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway in Uttar Pradesh left at least two people dead and more than twenty passengers injured after a private double-decker bus collided with a tanker and caught fire early Friday morning.
The bus, travelling from Kanpur to Gurugram, rammed into a tanker near the Matsena area under Firozabad district, close to pillar marker 46 km. The impact was so severe that the vehicle immediately went up in flames, causing panic among passengers trapped inside.
Officials confirmed that the driver and conductor lost their lives in the accident. Around 15 to 20 injured passengers were rushed to nearby medical facilities, including the Firozabad Medical College, Saifai Medical College, and hospitals in Shikohabad. Some critically injured victims were shifted to trauma care units.
Eyewitnesses reported chaos at the spot as flames engulfed the bus and passengers screamed for help. Local residents were among the first to begin rescue efforts before police, fire brigade teams, and emergency services arrived to control the situation and douse the fire.
City Magistrate Vinod Kumar Pandey confirmed the fatalities and said multiple injured passengers were undergoing treatment. Authorities also deployed teams to manage traffic as the expressway saw temporary disruption due to the crash and rescue operations.
Firefighters eventually brought the blaze under control, while police cleared the damaged vehicle and restored normal traffic movement on the expressway. Investigation into the cause of the collision is underway.
