Balrampur: Jamaluddin, alias Changur Baba's kothi, located in Balrampur district, has been demolished. The district administration demolished Baba's illegal constructions in Uttaraula and Madhupur. Along with this, action has also been taken on the properties of his associates.
Changur Baba is the kingpin of an organized conversion gang, which used to convert non-Muslim girls by luring and seducing them. Not only this, but a 'rate list' was prepared for these girls, and they were also given money on the basis of caste.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, Uttar Pradesh ATS arrested Changur Baba and his associate Neetu, alias Nasreen, from a hotel in Vikas Nagar, Lucknow. Investigation revealed that both of them were hiding in room number 102 of the 'Star Rooms' hotel for the last 80 days. Baba and Neetu are residents of Madhupur town in Balrampur district.
Transactions worth Rs 100 crore, more than 40 bank accounts
The ATS has found evidence of transactions worth more than Rs 100 crore in more than 40 bank accounts of Changur Baba and his associates during its investigation. This money was sent from Gulf countries, which was used as part of the conspiracy to convert. ATS officials said that Changur Baba has traveled to Islamic countries 40 times, where the Ministry of External Affairs is also keeping an eye on his suspicious activities.
The administration's hammer came down on illegal encroachments
Several illegal buildings built by Baba and his associates in Uttaraula and Madhupur towns of Balrampur were identified and demolished. These constructions were being used as bases for conversion. The administration said that Changur Baba had built many lands and houses by illegally occupying them. He used these to spread his network and hide his activities.
The chairperson of the Women's Commission said, "Hang them."
As soon as the conversion racket was exposed, there was a wave of anger across the state. Babita Chauhan, Chairperson of the Uttar Pradesh Women's Commission, described this racket as "the biggest fraud committed against daughters." Babita said, "Our daughters are not a laboratory where this poisonous thinking is used. Those who deceive daughters and snatch their religion are enemies of the society. They should be hanged." She praised the strict anti-conversion law made by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and said that the society should not sit silent now.
Neetu, alias Nasreen, is Baba's closest.
Changur Baba's closest associate was Neetu, alias Nasreen, who converted a decade ago and became a part of this gang. Her husband, Naveen, alias Jamaluddin, was also associated with this network. Changur and Neetu spent 80 days in a hotel room in Lucknow, from where the ATS caught them. Many serious revelations have come to light during interrogation.
Statement of ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash
ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash said, "This is not a minor case. Changur Baba and his network have been involved in the conspiracy of conversion for a long time. He had a strong hold in the administration in Balrampur, taking advantage of which he would first lure, and if they did not agree, he would get cases registered in the courts." He also said that Baba's role has been suspicious and complaints were lodged against him earlier also, but they were suppressed due to administrative influence.
What's next?
ATS has started searching for other suspects related to this racket. The role of foreign funding and religious institutions is also being investigated. The process of confiscating Baba's properties and banning foreign travel has also started.
