Kaushambi: Uttar Pradesh Police has achieved a major breakthrough in the Kaushambi firecracker factory blast case, with the arrest of the alleged main accused Naushad Ali after an encounter. The accused suffered a bullet injury in his leg during retaliatory police action and was taken into custody in an injured condition.

The encounter took place near Teramil in Charwa police station area around 4 am on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off about Nausad’s presence in the area, the police and SOG team launched a joint operation and surrounded him.

Accused Allegedly Opened Fire At Police Team

According to police officials, Nausad tried to escape after finding himself surrounded. Police alleged that he opened fire on the team during the attempt to flee.

The police retaliated in self-defence, during which Nausad was shot in the leg. He was later arrested and shifted to a hospital for treatment. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.

Massive Blast In Manouri Firecracker Factory Killed 11

The case is linked to the deadly explosion at a firecracker factory located in the Manouri area of Pipri police station jurisdiction.

The blast was so powerful that it shook the entire area and damaged nearby residential houses. So far, 11 people have been reported dead, while six injured victims are undergoing treatment in hospitals.

Several Houses Destroyed After Explosion

The impact of the explosion spread beyond the factory premises, damaging nearby homes. More than half a dozen houses were completely destroyed, while around a dozen others suffered damage.

After the blast, panic spread among local residents as debris and destruction were reported across the area.

Six People Named In FIR, Investigation Continues

Police have registered a case against six people, including main accused Nausad, in connection with the firecracker factory explosion.

Investigators are probing the operation of the factory, storage of explosive materials and the role of those responsible for the tragedy.

After Nausad’s arrest, police hope to get crucial information about the entire operation, other accused persons and the circumstances that led to the deadly blast.
