Mamta Kulkarni Enters Magh Mela Debate
Prayagraj: The ongoing controversy surrounding the Magh Mela bathing ceremony shows no signs of abating. From saints and sages to ordinary people, everyone is reacting to the issue. Now, actress and Sadhvi Mamta Kulkarni has entered the fray. She has leveled scathing accusations against Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda, calling him arrogant and questioning his conduct.
Mamta Kulkarni said that whenever such a large religious event takes place, the government and administration make rules that everyone, from kings to ordinary people, must follow. She said that the month of Magh is extremely sacred, and millions of devotees come to bathe in the Sangam. Any disruption in such a situation could prove fatal.
Mamta Kulkarni said that last year, many people lost their lives due to the chariots and palanquins. At that time, the same questions were raised: where was the administration? She said that Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda should have set an example this time, but his ego came to the fore. Mamata said that Shankaracharya should not be arrogant.
Mamta Kulkarni alleged that Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda has lost his saintliness and dignity. She said that he should have risen above the temptations of honor, insult, pride, and the palanquin and simply taken the Amrit Snan. The police administration pleaded with him for 15 minutes, but he did not try to understand. Mamata questioned whether Adi Shankaracharya would have insisted on the palanquin?
Mamta Kulkarni clearly stated that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath should not apologize in this entire matter, but Shankaracharya Avimukteshwarananda should do the penance. She said that because of him, his disciples and disciples have also been insulted.

Mamta Kulkarni alleged that it is inappropriate to engage in politics at a holy place like Prayagraj. She said that if one wants to discuss cow slaughter or other issues, there are separate platforms for that. The Magh Mela bath should be for spiritual practice only.
Mamta Kulkarni said that merely reading the Vedas and Puranas does not make one a Shankaracharya. Self-knowledge and self-realization are essential for this. She said that she herself has practiced penance for 25 years, and that is true knowledge.
Mamta concluded by saying that the truth must come out, even if it means giving up her saffron robes.
