Maharajganj: A significant incident of robbery has just been reported from Maharajganj district. In a brazen act of violence, miscreants assaulted a mobile phone trader with sticks and subsequently looted a large sum of money from him.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, the incident took place in the Sadar Kotwali area of the district. Armed criminals executed a well-planned robbery and fled after looting ₹2.20 lakh in cash from the trader.

The assailants reportedly intercepted the trader's motorcycle by force. Following the forced stop, they launched a physical assault using wooden sticks, overpowered the trader, and snatched a bag containing the cash before fleeing the scene. This violent episode has sparked panic in the locality and instilled fear among the business community.

As per the information received by the Dynamite News correspondent, the victim—identified as Jitendra, a resident of Bagapar village—was returning to his village late Thursday night after purchasing mobile phone accessories from Gorakhpur. While passing near Sonra village on the Chowk road, two unidentified individuals wearing masks and riding a motorcycle overtook and intercepted him.

According to Jitendra’s statement, one of the miscreants attacked him with a stick, causing him to lose balance and fall off his vehicle. The attackers then grabbed his bag, which contained approximately ₹2.20 lakh in cash, and fled from the scene on their motorcycle.

Upon receiving information about the incident, officers from the Kotwali police station rushed to the location. Superintendent of Police (SP) Somendra Meena himself visited the crime scene to conduct an inspection. He directed the officials to expedite the investigation and resolve the case at the earliest. He also mentioned that CCTV footage from the surrounding area is being reviewed, and a technical team has been deployed to assist in the investigation.

The Superintendent of Police further remarked that preliminary investigations suggest certain suspicious elements in the case, but the police are examining every possible angle. The victim is also being thoroughly questioned to uncover the complete truth behind the incident.

This robbery has once again raised pressing concerns regarding the safety and security of commuters and traders on highways and rural roads during nighttime. The pressure is now mounting on the police administration to swiftly crack the case and apprehend the culprits involved in the crime.
