Lucknow: K.C. Tyagi quit the Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday. This decision comes at a time when the party had already distanced itself from his statements and had clarified that his views did not represent the official party stance, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
According to sources, Tyagi may soon join another party and play an active role in the politics of Uttar Pradesh.
He had been associated with the JD(U) since the merger of the Samata Party and the Janata Dal in 2003 and held key positions within the party for a long period.
In his statement, Tyagi reminisced about his long-standing ties with the party. He noted that he had worked alongside leaders such as George Fernandes, Sharad Yadav, and Nitish Kumar and had held significant posts within the party, including general secretary, spokesperson, and political advisor.
Tyagi stated that he did not submit a formal resignation; rather, he simply chose not to renew his party membership. He also clarified that his respect for Nitish Kumar remains exactly the same today as it was in the past.
Tyagi affirmed that the direction of his politics would not change, and he would continue to draw inspiration from the ideologies of Ram Manohar Lohia, Charan Singh, and Karpoori Thakur.
For some time now, his role within the party had become limited—particularly after he was removed from the post of national spokesperson. He is now expected to announce his next political move at a meeting scheduled to be held in New Delhi on March 22.
