Barabanki: In a sensational broad daylight attack, advocate Shoaib alias Bobby was shot dead by unidentified assailants near Asaini Mor in the Kotwali police station area on Friday afternoon, triggering panic and raising fresh concerns over law and order in the district.
According to reports, Shoaib, a resident of Civil Lines, was returning from Lucknow to Barabanki in his Baleno car when attackers lying in wait opened fire as he reached the Asaini Mor bridge. The sudden burst of gunfire sent shockwaves through the area, leaving passers by terrified.
Body Sent for Post-Mortem, Forensic Team Collects Evidence
Locals alerted the police and ambulance services immediately after the incident. However, by the time officers reached the spot, Shoaib had succumbed to his injuries. The body was taken into custody and sent for post-mortem examination.
Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijay Vargiya and Additional Superintendent of Police Vikas Tripathi rushed to the scene and conducted a detailed inspection. A forensic team collected cartridge casings and other crucial evidence from the spot.
Senior Officials Rush to Spot, CCTV Footage Scanned
Sources said the ADG, Lucknow Zone, has also left for Barabanki following the incident. Police have sealed off the area and begun examining CCTV footage from nearby locations. Intensive checking of suspicious vehicles and individuals is underway.
Motive Under Investigation
The motive behind the killing remains unclear. Police are probing all possible angles, including personal enmity, professional disputes, and links to ongoing or past cases handled by the deceased advocate. His recent activities are also under scrutiny.
