Prayagraj: A house sealing operation carried out by the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) in the Civil Lines area has triggered a major controversy, with allegations and counterclaims fueling a political storm. The issue gained momentum after a video circulated on social media, claiming that a young girl was inside the house when officials sealed the property.

The matter soon took a political turn after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav questioned the action and accused the authorities of acting in an inhumane manner.

Akhilesh Yadav Questions PDA Action

Sharing the viral video on social media platform X, Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the house of a woman was sealed while her daughter was still inside. According to his claim, the woman had stepped out to take another child for an examination when PDA officials carried out the sealing operation.

Calling the incident "insensitive" and "inhumane," the former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister demanded strict action against the officials responsible and sought their immediate suspension. He also targeted the BJP government, saying the incident raises serious questions about its claims regarding women's safety and dignity.

"If the girl was indeed inside the house during the sealing process, it is a highly condemnable and serious matter," Akhilesh Yadav stated.

PDA Rejects Allegations

Responding to the controversy, the Prayagraj Development Authority strongly denied the allegations. PDA Vice-Chairman Rishi Raj said the claims being circulated on social media were factually incorrect and misleading.

According to the authority, the girl's maternal uncle's residence is located adjacent to the sealed property, with a connecting passage at the rear. Officials claimed that the girl entered the house through this passage after the sealing process had already been completed.

"The claim that any person was locked inside the sealed house is completely baseless," the PDA clarified, adding that the action was carried out in accordance with legal procedures and established rules.

Social Media Debate Intensifies

The incident has sparked intense debate online, with opposition leaders questioning the administration's conduct while officials continue to defend the operation. Viral videos and competing narratives have further heightened public interest in the case.

Truth Awaited Amid Conflicting Claims

As both sides stick to their respective versions, the controversy remains unresolved. While Akhilesh Yadav has termed the matter a serious humanitarian issue, the PDA insists that no one was trapped inside the property during the sealing operation.

With conflicting claims dominating the discourse, attention is now focused on official verification of facts and any further investigation that may establish what exactly transpired during the sealing drive.
