Rajeev Krishna appointed as UP’s new DGP, Dynamite News report confirmed

Lucknow: Dynamite News brings you this exclusive update on Uttar Pradesh’s top bureaucratic reshuffle – Senior IPS officer Rajeev Krishna has been appointed as the state’s new Director General of Police (DGP).

As first reported by Dynamite News, Krishna’s appointment has become the sole talking point from Delhi’s North Block to South Block, with intense discussions across UP’s bureaucratic circles.

The development follows the retirement of outgoing DGP Prashant Kumar, who was denied a service extension. Krishna, among the state’s most senior IPS officers, now assumes charge as Uttar Pradesh’s police chief.

Who is Rajeev Krishna?

Rajeev Krishna is a senior IPS officer of UP cadre of 1991 batch. He is currently posted as DG in UP Police and was working as DG Vigilance.

He was in news as SSP in Agra in 2004. As Agra SSP, he had launched a special campaign against criminals. RajeevKrishna had taken effective action against the kidnapping gangs active in the ravines.

On 7 August 2007, he was promoted to the post of DIG. On 9 November 2010, he was promoted as IG. Rajeev was made ADG on 1 January 2016. After this, he was promoted to the post of DG on 1 February last month.

RajeevKrishna was born on 20 June 1969. He hails from Lucknow, the capital of UP. He studied Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Communication. After graduation, he passed the Civil Services Examination of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) in 1991 and was selected as an IPS officer.
