Ayodhya: The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has appointed retired Air Marshal Jitendra Mishra as the first Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya.

Mishra was selected from a shortlist of three candidates prepared after receiving 5,585 applications for the key administrative post.

Appointment Comes Amid Donation Controversy

The decision was taken during a crucial Trust meeting held in Ayodhya amid the controversy over alleged embezzlement of temple donations.

The case had led to the arrest of eight people and the resignation of Champat Rai from the post of general secretary.

The Trust is also expected to discuss filling three vacant trustee positions during the meeting.

Trust Officials Attend Key Meeting

Trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das, Swami Kamalnayan Das, interim general secretary Dr Krishna Mohan, trustee Mahant Dinendra Das and treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri were among those present at the meeting.

Swami Kamalnayan Das, who is part of the Trust’s religious affairs committee, said before the meeting that his priority was the smooth functioning of the temple.

"I have no knowledge about who will be made the CEO. My wish is that the affairs of the temple should run smoothly," he said.

CEO To Handle Temple Administration

The Trust is also likely to discuss amendments to the Trust deed, appointment of a press spokesperson and other administrative matters.

The meeting was held at the residence of Trust president Mahant Nritya Gopal Das.

Before the final decision, Trust members had maintained that the CEO appointment would be decided after detailed deliberations by the board of trustees.
