New Delhi: In a significant development, the Supreme Court on Tuesday made absolute the interim bail granted to Uttar Pradesh MLA Abbas Ansari in a case registered under the Gangsters Act.

With this order, Abbas Ansari will continue to remain on bail until further directions from the court.

However, the apex court has imposed strict conditions. As per the order, Abbas Ansari must inform the local police before leaving the state of state. The court made it clear that any violation of bail conditions could lead to appropriate legal action.

The case relates to allegations under the Gangsters Act, in which Ansari had earlier been granted interim bail by the Supreme Court. After hearing the matter, the court decided to make the interim relief permanent, offering temporary relief to the sitting MLA while legal proceedings continue.
