Uttar Pradesh takes a giant leap toward a green future
Lucknow: A new initiative is going to start in Uttar Pradesh to increase the income of farmers. The government has announced that now industries will be set up to make airplane fuel from sugarcane bagasse, paddy husk, and wheat straw. About 2.5 crore farmers will directly benefit from this scheme.
Actually, farmers will be able to earn well by selling agricultural waste to make or produce Bio Fuel. This fuel is called Bio Jet Fuel (Sustainable Aviation Fuel or SAF), which is considered more environmentally friendly than petrol and diesel, reports Dynamite News correspondent.
Invest UP called a high-level meeting at Hotel Taj on this subject. "UP Sustainable Aviation Fuel Manufacturing Promotion Policy-2025" was presented in this round table meeting. The meeting was chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh. Leading investors, industrialists, and policy experts attended it.
Everyone discussed this new policy and also gave their suggestions. Officials said that this policy will be the first of its kind in the country. The chief secretary said that the implementation of this policy will directly benefit the farmers. Consumption of sugarcane bagasse, paddy husk, wheat straw, and surplus grains will increase.
Industries will buy these agricultural wastes directly from farmers. This will also increase employment opportunities in rural areas, and farmers will get better prices for their crops.
Investment of Rs 3000 crore expected
The government believes that this initiative will not only promote green energy but will also increase the income of farmers. Invest UP Chief Executive Officer Vijay Kiran Anand said that important issues like land availability, the policymaking process, and ease of doing business were discussed in this meeting.
Investors also gave some suggestions, which will be included in the proposed policy. Officials also said that an investment of about Rs 3000 crore is expected under this policy.
More than 18 companies, like Greenko, AM Greens, E20 Greenfuels, New Era Clean Tech, and Malbros Group, have shown keen interest in setting up SAF units in Uttar Pradesh. After this, UP, which has the largest air, rail, and road network in the country, will provide investors with excellent connectivity and a favorable environment for business.
According to government data, crores of tons of paddy husk, sugarcane bagasse, and wheat straw are wasted or burned every year in the country. This also harms the environment. But now this new scheme of the government will make waste a source of income.
This will not only fill the pockets of the farmers, but the environment will also be safe. This is the reason why the government has considered it a big step towards a "green future."
