UP: Two died by drowning in Rapti River in Badhalganj area

Gorakhpur: A heart-wrenching incident in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh shook two families.

Priyanshu Paswan, 15-year-old son of Bhola Paswan, resident of Khutbhar village of Badhalganj police station area and another teenager of Bhirwa village of Deoria district died due to drowning in Rapti river.

This tragic accident happened on Tuesday when both the teenagers went to take bath in the river.

What is the whole matter?

According to the information, Priyanshu Paswan and another teenager of Bhirwa village had gone to take bath on the banks of Rapti river with their friends.

Both the teenagers who entered the river to get relief from the heat, unknowingly went into the deep water.

Due to the strong current and lack of knowledge of the depth, both started drowning.

People present nearby tried to save them, but by then both had stopped breathing. Rescue operation and police action

As soon as the information of the incident was received, local people and relatives reached the river bank.

With the help of local divers, the bodies of both the teenagers were taken out of the river.

Barhalganj police station reached the spot and took the bodies in possession and sent them for postmortem.

The station in-charge said that the incident happened on Wednesday at 9.30, two teenagers went into deep water while bathing, who died, as soon as the information was received, divers were deployed, the bodies were recovered and sent for postmortem.

Family members in a state of panic, wave of mourning in the village

According to Dynamite News Samvadta, Priyanshu Paswan was the only child of his parents and was the center of the family's hopes.

On hearing the news of his death, there was mourning in Khutbhar village.

The family members are in a bad state due to crying.

A wave of mourning has run in the family of the deceased Priyanshu Me, a resident of Bhirwa village of Deoria district.

Villagers said that both the teenagers were promising and their sudden death shocked the whole village.

Such accidents have happened before as well

This is not the first incident of drowning in the Rapti river. In recent months, many people have lost their lives while bathing in the river.

In February 2025, an 18-year-old girl who had gone to collect water for the Shrimad Bhagwat Katha also died by drowning in the Rapti river.

The local people have demanded the administration to install warning boards in the dangerous areas of the river and increase security measures.

Appeal to the administration

After this tragic incident, the villagers and family members have appealed to the administration to strengthen the security system on the river bank.

People say that such incidents are happening repeatedly due to lack of awareness about deep water and strong currents.

Police and local administration have appealed to people to be cautious while bathing in the river and avoid going into deep water.

This accident has once again highlighted the dangers of bathing in rivers, and the demand for taking concrete steps from the administration has intensified.
