Four drown to death in Prayagraj
Prayagraj: Four children, including one adult, drowned in a pond in Kusua village under the Puramufti police station area of Prayagraj on Wednesday.
The tragic incident has plunged the entire village into grief and shock.
According to initial information, three children aged between 10 and 12 years were playing near the pond along with a 19-year-old youth from the same village. During this time, they are suspected to have accidentally fallen into the pond. Their clothes and slippers were later found lying near the pond, suggesting that the incident happened suddenly and went unnoticed.
The deceased have been identified as Prateek Sonkar (12) and Prince Sonkar (10), sons of Pradeep Sonkar; Karan Sonkar (19), son of Rajesh Sonkar; and Priyanshu Sonkar (11), son of late Sandeep Sonkar. All belonged to Kusua village.
After the incident came to light, chaos erupted in the village. A large number of villagers gathered at the Sallahpur police outpost, and grieving family members raised serious allegations, suspecting foul play behind the deaths.
On receiving information, police officials reached the spot and began an investigation. Authorities stated that all aspects of the incident are being examined thoroughly. Given the allegations made by the families, the police are also probing the possibility of murder alongside accidental drowning.
The incident has cast a shadow of mourning over the village, with residents demanding a fair and transparent investigation to uncover the truth behind the tragic deaths.
