D-Mart faces a shocking setback! A ₹6 carry bag sold to a Bhilwara consumer was so poor in quality that the court ordered ₹5,000 compensation payable within two months. Find out why a tiny bag cost the retail giant big.

Bhilwara: In a historic decision, the District Consumer Forum in Bhilwara has ordered D-Mart to pay ₹5,000 in compensation to a consumer for selling a low-quality carry bag priced at ₹6. The court deemed it a case of "deficiency in service" and directed D-Mart Avenue Supermart Limited to pay the amount within two months.
The case involves consumer Anamika Suvalka, a resident of Jawahar Nagar. According to her lawyer, Mukesh Suvalka, Anamika had purchased a carry bag from D-Mart, Bhilwara, to hold her purchased items. The bag, priced at ₹6, was of such poor quality that it was damaged immediately upon use and became unusable. Following this, Anamika Suvalka filed a complaint against D-Mart in the District Consumer Forum.
