A dark night, dense fog, and an unbarricaded under-construction mall led to a young engineer’s death in Noida. With the CEO removed and an SIT formed, the Yogi government faces tough questions-but who will be held truly accountable?
Noida: A tragic incident involving the death of a young software engineer in Noida has triggered serious questions about administrative accountability and infrastructure safety, putting the Uttar Pradesh government’s system under intense scrutiny. The incident occurred on a dark, foggy night near a construction site with no barricading, where a fatal lapse allegedly cost the engineer his life.
According to details, the engineer was travelling by car when he entered the premises of an under-construction mall in Sector 150, developed by Lotus Green builder. The mall’s open basement was filled with water, and the vehicle reportedly got trapped inside, leading to the engineer’s death. The incident has raised sharp questions about negligence by both the local administration and the builder.
Software Engineer Death Case: CEO Noida Lokesh M removed, Know the reason behind the decision
The tragedy sent shockwaves through the administrative machinery. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took immediate cognisance of the incident and expressed grief over the loss of life. Following this, the government initiated strict action, indicating zero tolerance towards negligence.
As part of the crackdown, Dr Lokesh M, CEO of the Noida Authority, was removed from his post on Monday and placed on the waiting list. Lokesh M had been heading the Noida Authority since July 2023.
To ensure a swift and transparent probe, the Chief Minister ordered the formation of a three-member Special Investigation Team (SIT). The SIT will be led by the Meerut Divisional Commissioner and will include the ADG, Meerut Zone, and the Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD). The team has been directed to complete the investigation within five days and submit its report to the Chief Minister.
Following the incident, questions have been raised over the lack of safety measures, poor monitoring of construction sites, and alleged administrative lapses. While the government has stepped in directly, the key question remains—who is ultimately responsible for the fatal negligence?
