Sonbhadra: Nirmala Devi, known as "Lakhpati Didi" in Bichpai village, Sonbhadra, has transformed her life by joining the NRLM's rural women's group and training in candle making. Despite initial challenges, she persevered and eventually became a successful candlemaker, earning over one lakh rupees annually.

Her success has inspired many women in the village to become self-reliant. Nirmala's husband also supports her work, and she runs Prerna Koot Corner, increasing her earnings.

She was invited as a special guest at the flag hoisting ceremony at Red Fort on Independence Day 2025. Nirmala's story is not just about financial independence but also about the spirit that can be achieved even in small villages.
