New Delhi: The investigation into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma has entered a new phase after her mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, denied allegations of dowry harassment and submitted financial transaction records in court to support her defence.

Twisha, a Noida-based model and actress, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, months after marrying advocate Samarth Singh in December 2025. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of harassment and murder.

Financial Records Submitted In Court

During court proceedings linked to the anticipatory bail plea of Samarth Singh, Giribala Singh reportedly submitted online transaction slips ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 50,000, claiming the family regularly supported Twisha financially.

The court, however, rejected Samarth Singh’s anticipatory bail plea on Monday. Following the order, Bhopal Police announced a cash reward of Rs 10,000 for information leading to his arrest. Giribala Singh had earlier secured anticipatory bail in the case.

Family Demands Arrests And Fresh Probe

Twisha’s father, Navnidhi Sharma, said the rejection of the bail plea was only the beginning of the legal battle. The family has continued demanding the arrest of both accused and called for an independent and fair investigation.

Family members have also questioned the initial post-mortem findings and sought a fresh examination at AIIMS Delhi. They alleged that injury marks found on Twisha’s body raised suspicion beyond suicide.

Police officials confirmed that a rope allegedly used in the hanging was not sent for forensic examination, and action may be taken against the investigating officer responsible for the lapse.

Mental Health Claims Trigger Controversy

Portions of Samarth Singh’s bail application circulating online sparked controversy after claims were made regarding Twisha’s mental health and alleged substance dependency.

Her family strongly rejected those assertions, maintaining that Twisha was cheerful and professionally active before marriage. Relatives alleged that tensions escalated after she lost her work-from-home job and became pregnant.

SIT Continues Investigation

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by ACP Rajneesh Kashyap is currently probing allegations related to dowry harassment, abetment, physical assault and possible destruction of evidence.

Police said the investigation is continuing from all angles while efforts remain underway to trace Samarth Singh.
