Rahul, Sonia Gandhi cleared of ED charges, Kharge calls out Modi and Shah; Watch video

New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) faced a major setback in the National Herald case as Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court refused to take cognizance of the chargesheet filed against Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Sonia Gandhi. Special Judge Vishal Gogane stated that legally, the chargesheet could not be accepted, and issuing summons to the Gandhi family would be inappropriate.

The court highlighted multiple legal deficiencies in the ED’s complaint, noting that the case does not fall under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). It emphasized that the chargesheet was one-sided and not based on any valid FIR. The judge further clarified that under PMLA, any action requires a ‘scheduled offense,’ which is not evident in this case. Acting solely on allegations would be against the law, leading the court to deny summons to Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and other accused.

Following the court’s decision, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge held a press conference, launching a strong attack on the BJP. Kharge demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, criticizing their handling of the case.
