

Gorakhpur shooting: Jeweler Umesh Jaiswal and his son shot by villager over kids’ quarrel; teen critical. Accused arrested, weapon seized.
Gorakhpur: A minor quarrel between children in Bhagwanpur village of Khajni police station area took a violent turn on Wednesday evening. The village's reputed jewelry businessman, Umesh Jaiswal, and his 17-year-old son, Rohan, were shot by Durga Singh, alias Bablu Singh, a resident of the same village.
The incident took place when the father and son were returning home after closing their shop. Both of the seriously injured were first referred to the district hospital and then to PGI Lucknow late at night. Where Umesh Jaiswal's condition is now said to be stable, but son Rohan is still on a ventilator and is under the observation of doctors.
According to the Dynamite News correspondent, the incident took place on Wednesday, June 25, at around 7 pm. As soon as Umesh Jaiswal reached near the intersection while returning from the shop with his son, Bablu Singh, who was already waiting, suddenly started firing.
According to eyewitnesses, three rounds of firing were done one after the other, in which one bullet hit Rohan's chest and one hit Umesh's stomach. Local villagers immediately took both of them to CHC in a blood-soaked condition, from where doctors referred them to Lucknow in critical condition.
After the incident, Khajni police became active, and under the leadership of SHO Anoop Singh, the accused Durga Singh, alias Bablu Singh, was arrested from his house in the night itself.
Police have also recovered the country-made pistol used in the incident from him. A case has been registered against the accused under several serious sections, including attempt to murder.
