New Delhi: Renowned Ladakh environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has announced that he will begin an indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi from June 28 if the Central government fails to respond to his key demands related to education reforms and Ladakh by June 27.

His announcement has sparked fresh political and public debate over the ongoing movement.

Focus on Two Key Demands

Wangchuk has urged the government to take concrete steps towards reforming the education system and to clearly address key issues concerning Ladakh. He said these matters have remained unresolved for a long time despite repeated appeals.

In a message issued from Geneva, Wangchuk said that if the government does not show accountability or take positive action within the stipulated deadline, he will launch a peaceful indefinite hunger strike starting June 28. He also appealed to people across the country to support the campaign.
