Chandauli: The nearly two-hundred-year-old Jameshwar Mahadev Temple, located in Jamdih village in Chandauli district of Uttar Pradesh, holds special significance. The twin Shivalinga here is considered a place that fulfils the wishes of childless couples to have children. Devotees gather here, especially on holy days like Bhai Dooj and Mahashivratri.
An ancient Peepal tree is also present in the temple premises, under which Sukhlal Agrahari had a vision of Lord Shiva. Sukhlal established the temple there. Subsequently, he was blessed with three sons, further enhancing the sanctity of the place.
Devotees believe that after visiting Kashi Vishwanath and other famous Shiva temples, people come to see the twin Shivalinga of Jameshwar Mahadev. On Bhaiya Dooj, the second day of Diwali, women bathe in the Jameshwar Sarovar, wear new clothes, and perform Jalabhishek.
A female devotee from Bihar said that after five years of childlessness, her wish was fulfilled and she was blessed with two sons. The mythological and spiritual significance of this temple remains a special center of faith for the people even today.
