Watch Video: Dharali became silent; Uttarakhand storm brings tragedy and despair

Dehradun: A storm hit the Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand on Tuesday, causing a lot of damage in Dharali village. A sudden downpour made the small stream swell, turning the whole mountain into a mess of rubble that flowed into the village. Many houses got damaged and a lot of people lost their lives.

Officials confirmed that 4 or 5 people have lost their lives in this disaster, however this data may increase. The event has deeply affected Uttarakhand and has also reached Delhi, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah are closely watching the situation themselves.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is getting updates and has directed a quick rescue operation. Teams from the Army, ITBP, and NDRF have reached the area. They are using helicopters, trained dogs, and satellite technology to help rescue people who are stuck in the village. The village is quiet now, with broken slippers, scattered toys, and unanswered questions.
