A high-profile codeine cough syrup network has been busted in Raebareli, exposing a multi-crore black market operation. Following actions in Lucknow and Varanasi, police and STF zeroed in on local medical trader Divakar Singh. During raids at Ajay Pharma, authorities seized suspicious purchase-sale bills linked to closed firms in Lucknow, Unnao, and Shravasti.

Raebareli: The investigation into the high-profile codeine cough syrup network has now reached Raebareli. After major actions in Lucknow and Varanasi, the STF and local police have intensified suspicion on Raebareli-based medical businessman Diwakar Singh.
According to Dynamite News sources, Singh is accused of supplying large quantities of narcotic cough syrup and earning crores through illegal trade. The revelations have created panic among medical store owners in the district.
During the probe, Drug Inspector Shivendra Pratap Singh conducted a raid at Ajay Pharma, located in Kallu Ka Purwa under Mill Area Police Station. Although codeine syrup was not found at the shop, officials recovered a huge stock of suspicious purchase–sale bills. These documents mention several firms based in Lucknow, Unnao and Shravasti.
Shockingly, it was discovered that many of these firms shown as suppliers of codeine syrup had been shut down for months, raising doubts about fake invoices and illegal procurement.
One such Unnao-based firm, whose bills were found at Ajay Pharma, has reportedly been closed for nearly a year and now operates as a coaching centre. This has strengthened the Drug Department’s suspicion that fake billing and large-scale black marketing of codeine syrup were carried out through Ajay Pharma.
Authorities have sealed the store, and a deeper investigation is underway to uncover the full extent of the racket and identify all linked operatives.
