Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Youth Congress held a vigorous protest against the Election Commission in Lucknow today. Workers gathered at the state office early in the morning as part of the "Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod" campaign. From there, they marched towards the Election Commission office in Hazratganj. Protesters chanted slogans such as, "The Election Commission has become the new branch of the RSS."
During the march, police attempted to stop them by erecting heavy barricades. Arguments and scuffles ensued between the two sides. Several Youth Congress workers climbed over the barriers, after which the police seized them and forced them into vans. A heavy police presence was already deployed at both the Election Commission and the Congress office, but the protesters' enthusiasm remained undeterred.
The Youth Congress stated that their protest was against the Election Commission's "biased actions." The protests continued throughout the day, and a tense atmosphere between the Congress and the police was seen on the city streets. The protest also generated attention in political circles.
