Itanagar: A young girl from Arunachal Pradesh has sparked an emotional topic on social media after a video showing her responding to some people who called her Chinese went viral.
In the video, the girl can be heard calmly explaining that she and her family are Indian and that being mistaken for Chinese makes her upset.
“Hum bhi India hai. Hum log Indian hain. Aap humko Chinese bolne se hum bohot gussa hotey hain, bohot dukhi hote hain. Humko Indian bolo. Hum India ka hai. Hum Itanagar mein rehte hai,” she says.
Her message, highlighting her Indian identity and pride in belonging to the country, has received widespread attention from social media users.
The video has also brought renewed attention to the experiences of people from India’s Northeast, many of whom have spoken about being wrongly identified due to their physical appearance.
Several users pointed out that India is a diverse nation where people from different regions have unique features, cultures and traditions, but share the same national identity.
The girl’s statement has been seen by many as a reminder that a person’s appearance should not be used to judge their nationality.
After the video spread across platforms like Instagram and X, many users praised the young girl for confidently expressing her feelings.
One user wrote, “Yes, you’re Indian more than everyone else,” while another said that no one can question her identity as an Indian citizen.
Many others shared supportive messages, calling her words a reflection of the pride and belonging felt by people across the country.
The video has become more than just a viral clip, opening discussions around cultural awareness, inclusivity and the need to respect India’s diverse communities.
For the young girl, the message remained clear and simple — her looks do not define her nationality.
