New Delhi: A fresh controversy has erupted in Pakistan after senior journalist Wajahat S. Khan claimed that jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan may have died inside Adiala Jail. The claim has triggered widespread speculation, but there is no official confirmation from Pakistani authorities regarding Imran Khan’s death.
The journalist reportedly claimed that information from sources linked to Pakistan’s military establishment suggested that Imran Khan was no longer alive and that restrictions on meetings with him were linked to the alleged situation. However, the claim remains unverified, and no independent evidence has emerged to confirm it.
Imran Khan, the former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, has been imprisoned at Adiala Jail since 2023 while facing multiple legal cases. Concerns over his health and access to him have repeatedly been raised by his family members, lawyers and party leaders.
PTI has alleged that authorities have restricted meetings between Imran Khan and his family members, party colleagues and personal doctors. The party has demanded transparency regarding his health condition and access to medical professionals.
Following the latest claim, PTI leaders intensified their demand for immediate access to Imran Khan. The party said that uncertainty over his health was creating concern among supporters and urged authorities to allow meetings with family members, lawyers and medical representatives.
The controversy has added further tension between PTI and Pakistani authorities, with supporters questioning the lack of regular updates about the former prime minister.
PTI supporters and leaders recently held protests outside Pakistan’s Supreme Court over concerns related to Imran Khan’s health and delays in legal proceedings.
The protest was later called off after assurances regarding future hearings. PTI leaders also sought permission for Khan’s family and personal doctors to meet him.
The latest controversy comes amid growing political tensions surrounding Imran Khan’s continued imprisonment. PTI leaders have warned that public anger could increase if concerns over his health and access remain unresolved.
However, the central issue remains unclear as there has been no official confirmation regarding the journalist’s claim. Until authorities provide verified information, reports about Imran Khan’s death remain allegations and unconfirmed claims.
