New York/ 4 March 2016.
New York opened the world’s most expensive train station to the public on Thursday, 3 March in New York, which has been built on the site of the former World Trade Centre (WTC), that was destroyed in the 9/11 attacks.

The luxurious train station, designed in the shape of giant bird by a Spanish-Swiss architect Santiago Calatrava, looks like it’s ready spread its wings wide and fly!

Planned with a budget of $2 billion, the station ended up costing roughly $3.85 Billion.

The massive bird shaped train station was commissioned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and was paid for using taxpayers' dollars.

The station will also have shopping and restaurant plazas which will be opened later in August 2016.

At least 200,000 commuters and 250,000 visitors  and shoppers are expected to pass through the station each day
